Why Free Glasses for Kids

Free Glasses for Kids ⌐◨-◨ is a philanthropic program that began with Joshua Fisher's proposal to the Nouns DAO Treasury, which successfully secured funding for 300 initial pairs of glasses. It has now expanded to include 20,000 more pairs, a custom vision screening van, and a partnership with Matthew Beem.
  • Uncorrected vision problems can have a profound effect on a child's behavior, academic performance, and overall development. According to the American Optometric Association, 1 in 4 school-age children has an undiagnosed vision issue that can interfere with learning. 
  • What began as a small 300-pair initiative has grown into a comprehensive program with plans to help thousands of children and potentially expand statewide in Ohio.
  • The custom van will serve communities throughout Appalachia and Youngstown, providing vision screening and glasses to children who otherwise wouldn't have access.
  • Fish & Friends conceptualized the project, secured the funding, and brought together all partners. They serve as the driving force, from initial concept through execution.
  • Nouns DAO provides the financial support for the glasses and custom vision van through their treasury, showcasing how web3 can fund real-world social impact.
